Jo discovered her love for the stage at a very early age,
performing in pantomimes and musicals in her hometown of Mossley,
with its own amateur operatic and dramatic society (MAODS).
Performing in both chorus and dance roles, it soon became clear
that Jo's talent was in singing, and she saw more challenging,
principal roles coming her way, not only from MAODS, but other
local am-dram societies such as Middleton, Whitefield, and Oldham
Congress players. Her favourite role, however was playing 'Eponine'
in MAODS's world premiere youth adaptation of Les Miserables
in 2004.
At just 17, Jo was asked to join a female Abba duo, and jumped
at the chance of performing more regularly (and wearing those
boots!). Through this, she slowly built up her own repertoire,
and started working the club and pub circuit as a solo act.
It wasn't long before Jo built up a good reputation as a sound
and versatile singer, and soon the bookings came rolling in.
4 years later, Jo has established herself as one of the best
young female vocalists in the north west, performing to appreciative
audiences all over. After securing herself the 'Artist of the
year' award in Huddersfield, 'Star of Tameside and Glossop Command',
and winning the X-Factor style 'Tameside's got Talent' in 2008,
she was asked to support 'The Real Thing' and 'Hot Chocolate'
at Hyde's own Party in the Park, in 2009.
Having grown up with music around her, due to her parents eclectic
and vast taste in music, jo has a very varied repertoire and
likes to include as many genres into her show as possible. From
'The Supremes' to 'The Script', Jo covers music from the 60's
right through to the modern music of today, and everything in
between. She is able to alter her set in a second to please
any audience, evident in the variety of venues she performs
at, from pubs and clubs, to family events, to nightclubs, to
homes for the aged, receiving enthusiastic re-bookings time
and time again.
